The Primordial Swirl

by Charles Tarver

Since at least as far back as Ancient Greece, philosophers and astronomers have pondered whether the "harmonious" and mathematical orbits of the planets might also create their own form of music.  Ever since, composers have been happy to oblige these speculations with compositions ranging from the serious to the lighthearted, such as Johann Strauss's The Music of the Spheres Waltz.  This piece, The Primordial Swirl, is an electronic tone poem providing a 21st century take on this theme by harnessing developments in digital audio technology.
